Losing weight is tough. It's hard to control your appetite and make the right choices, all while being patient while the weight slowly comes off. Would not it be great if there were foods that might actually help you lose weight?
There are, in fact, two foods that experts believe can help you in your weight loss efforts - yogurt and Omega 3 fatty acids.
Weight and medical experts believe these two foods help people lose weight faster, and more efficiently. The reasons are not completely clear, but studies have shown that both yogurt and Omega 3 fatty acids seem to accelerate weight loss.
Yogurt
A weight loss study performed by an American university showed that people who ate yogurt lost significantly more weight on a diet than those who did not. In fact, the study showed that dieters who ate three servings of fat-free yogurt each day lost 22% more weight and 61% more body fat than those who did not eat yogurt.
The yogurt eaters also lost 81% more fat in the stomach area than the non-yogurt eaters. Since experts are now telling us that stomach fat is a barometer of heart disease risk, eating yogurt could also help you reduce your risk of heart disease.
Since the study, experts have recommended that dieters simply eat more calcium as it aids in weight loss, but yogurt seems to have more beneficial properties and those trying to lose weight should add a healthy dose of yogurt specifically (and calcium generally) into their diets .
Omega 3 fatty acids
These fatty acids, found mostly in fish products, have been found to speed up the weight loss process for many dieters. Eating foods that contain the Omega 3 fatty acids can help dieters lose weight faster and easier, experts believe.
These fatty acids do not work by themselves to help you lose weight, however. If combined with moderate exercise, you can see the benefit of this addition to your diet. That's because it's believed that the Omega 3s help the body to improve the flow of blood to the muscles during exercise.
During a study, experts found that those who took an fish oil supplement and exercised moderately (a 45 minute walk or run three times a week) lost significantly more weight than those dieters who did not take the supplement. Even those who otherwise did not change their eating habits lost weight.
Although it's not easy to lose weight, adding certain foods and supplements to your daily diet can make dieting easier. Not everything will work for every dieter, however, so try adding yogurt and see what happens. Add some fish oil supplements to your diet and see how that works (but make sure to combine that with exercise). You might just be surprised with the results.
