Break out of a traditional date night routine and enjoy doing something new together again. Research has proven that the best date nights are not about routine or reliving previous dates. The best experiences couples have together are when they try something new that they both enjoy.
Bubble bath and champagne for the two of you
If you have a bath that can take the two of you, then try this simple idea to bring that romance back into your lives. Put plenty of candles around and turn off the main lights. Bring a couple of glasses of champagne and sit back and relax together.
Sign up for a one-off class at your local college
Choose something you would both enjoy and might continue with. Local colleges offer everything from cooking, massage, yoga, sculpture, furniture renovation and more.
Create a montage of your favourite photos together
Create a montage of your photos you can either print off or create as wallpaper for your computer. Select some of your favourite photos reminding you of great times together.
Go to a local dance night
Relive the magic and uncertainty of being in an uncomfortable situation and try a dance class together. Look at local pubs or dance schools for introductory nights. Spice up your dancing with salsa, or be traditional with ballroom dancing. You could have a lot of fun and try belly-dancing together!
Enjoy the thrills of an amusement park
Have a purely indulgent time on the roller coaster rides at a theme park. Leave the kids at home and indulge yourselves completely with the childish fun of screaming and hugging each other on the rider.
Attend a concert together
Whether it is rock, pop, heavy metal, classical or other. Pick a style and go listen to a new artist you have not seen before. Try something different and choose some music you would not normally go see live!
Relax with a dinner and a movie
A classic date, but make it more exciting by trying a new cuisine at a restaurant - sushi, African, Thai. Take in a different style of movie too - if you're a blockbuster person at the local multiplex, try a foreign movie at an art house cinema and vice versa.
Cook some gourmet or exotic food together in a cooking class
Look at local community colleges or even restaurants for one-off cooking classes. Try a different cuisine or learn to bake pastries, or make chocolate. An experience for sharing a good laugh and, hopefully, good food together.
Go for a walk around your neighbourhood
Break the routine of rushing through your local neighbourhood and take some time to explore what it offers. From walking through the residential streets and seeing what others are doing with their houses and gardens, to looking at the local shops and seeing what they really have to offer inside.
