How Social Media Devices Are Ruining Relationships

[ad_1]

As the divorce rate continues to rise in the US, it is becoming very obvious and more disturbing that, social media devices are playing a fundamental part in controlling relationship. If you take into account the human condition, for however long people have roamed this earth, they have not done it quietly. We are creatures that need to express our feelings, thoughts emotions and body language. Social media does not for allow this.

Lately, it is becoming more noticeable; people have been conducting relationships through phone texting. This especially includes trying to solve their disagreements and arguments in this manner. The problem with this type of communication is the loss of expression that comes with language. Using texting makes it impossible to tell if someone is angry, sad, hurt, happy or feeling any other emotions. It also puts the receiver in a difficult predicament, because they are confused as to the meaning of the message, therefore also confused as how to reply.

Other areas in which texting creates problems in relationships are, the ease of access to other people. People have been able to contact one another with ease since the invention of the telephone. But never with such content and never in ways they are doing today. Texting invites romantic relationships to evolve in any location with anyone. It also allows the relationship to be kept from their spouse. Some of these messages include, the formation of physical as well as emotional connections. Plans and schemes are formulated. If the partner does become suspicious, finding text messages from the opposite sex, will only anger the spouse, possibly creating jealousy. They question who their spouse has been communicating with and why. If the answer is not satisfactory, it begins to erode the trust level within the couple.

If one were to look on the internet, they would find many disgruntled posts of people in relationships that have been cheated on. Some of the posts declare the problem is not the texting, but the person doing the texting. This is the same faulty logic that is used to rationalize the use of hand guns. The reality is, if they did not exist, they would not be used.

The second social medium contributing to this havoc, are social websites. Many people spend countless hours on their computers, in online social sites, either looking up old friends or making new ones. For many, the time spent, as well as formation of relationships is contributing to significant jealousy and mistrust by spouses and significant others. What is suppose to be a site for general conversation, is turning into a site where sexual innuendoes are expressed, mental cheating on partners takes place and some will go as far as using these sites to display erotic pornography.

Many couples will be on the verge of divorce due to messages being taken out of context. Many accuse their spouse or significant other of ignoring daily responsibilities and tasks, because the majority of their day is spent on social web sites. The searching that is taking place may be due to unhappiness in a current relationship. It can also be due to people attempting to start significant relationships. For whatever reasons, people have begun to spend too much time on these sites. We must remember, we control the sites; the sites do not control us. We must be mature and responsible for our own behavior, while taking into account the effect our behavior has on those that love us. These you the find the if problems occurring in your life, you may wish to seek out Marriage a counseling or a counseling relationship .
