Pasadena Texas Auto Insurance

Pasadena is a city situated South of Houston, Texas. Pasadena has a population of just over 150 000. It was named after Pasadena, California, because the founder John H. Burnett though that the vegetation was similar. Located close to the location of the final battle of the Texas Revolution, Pasadena is commonly referred to as "the Birthplace of Texas".

Being a vehicle owner in Pasadena is similar to that of any city around the same size. The public transportation in Pasadena is what you would expect for a city that size; it is not very encompassing and is not as reliable as systems you find in other bigger cities. Due to its proximity, Houston is a good comparison - it features a much more reliable and encompassing public transportation system. Car ownership in Pasadena is very important because of that.

People who do have a car are met with a decent road system. Pasadena is served by three freeways. Interstate 45 is the closest interstate to Pasadena's city limits. The East side of the Sam Houston Tollway runs through the Eastern part of the city, while the Pasadena Freeway is the cities main artery.

Like with any city, driving within Pasadena is not a risk free endeavor. The state of Texas was home to more than 3 000 traffic related fatalities last year. That was second to only California. While, California had more fatalities, it had a lower fatality percentage than Texas.

Cashes involving fatalities are more likely to occur in rural areas. However, urban and suburban areas like Pasadena are much more likely to have non fatal car accidents. In fact, 80% of all auto insurance claims come from urban centers.

All cities are full of intersections and Pasadena is no different. Intersections are where the chance for damage is the highest. Nearly half of all urban crashes take place at intersections. Make sure to pay careful attention when you are near or in one. Always respect the lights and signs that are posted.

Once you have reached your destination safely, make sure to stay vigilant. Pasadena is home to a large number of car thefts each year. The National Motor Vehicle Theft Risk index is an average of 100. The state of Texas, has an index number a bit higher at 102. If that was not bad enough, the city of Pasadena, has a MUCH higher index rating - as of last year Pasadena's Car Theft Risk Index number was a whopping 135.

Pasadena is a wonderful city with a great climate and a friendly atmosphere. People need to make sure they take the right steps to protect themselves and their family though. Drive safely, stay alert, pay attention at intersections, make sure your car is locked, parked in a safe area and that you are fully insured.
