Weight Loss - Looking Inside for the True You!

[ad_1]

We've all been there. Whether it's the after holiday bulge (I'm just staying warm for the winter!), The extra slice of chocolate cake (, what's it going to hurt me?), Or the blues munchies (I NEED that candy bar right now), most Of us can say that we have struggled with weight gain in some form or another. With weight loss programs being a billion dollar industry and obesity still being a major concern one has to wonder- how can we keep off the weight without completely losing it financially and emotionally?

We all know how to eat right and we know the basic tried and true methods of weight loss- eat healthy, exercise, do not eat junk food. There are literally hundreds of successful diet programs for Americans to choose from. Why is it then that people still have problems losing the weight and keeping it off. Why is obesity still such a problem?

Research has shown that weight loss is not about the diet, it's about your individual thought process. One of the most effective treatments in treating binge eating is cognitive and behavorial therapy. There are ways to approach dieting and exercise in a way that is healthy for both mind and spirit and encouragements success for the long run instead of short term effects.

Emotional reasoning - Learn how to analyze your emotional triggers and response systems. Every day is a new day and the journey to health is a life long process not a fixed journey with a set end point. Some days are harder than others and learning how the mind reacts to certain situations is crucial for determining a healthy and fresh outlook on dieting and exercise.

Think positive- Often times when people diet they develop a black and white perspective. "I tried a diet but then I went off so I have failed." You can not eat one cookie and say, "I failed, I'll never lose weight." Thinking positive has been proven to have immediate effects on the mind. If your thoughts about the future and present are always positive you will be able to stick to a diet better and with more success.

Be human- Human beings fail, it's all part of the process. The trick is learning how to get back up after we fail and learning how to do it better. Ok, so you had that whole bag of cookies. Minor set back, what can you do next time you have that temptation? (Hint: Walk AWAY from the cookies next time).

A life coach can help you set standards and stay true to your goals and be a positive influence in your life. A trained professional will be able to quickly identify the negative triggers and help you find positive new ways of thinking.

The most important thing is to realize that obsession about losing weight is not going to help anything. Our body is only a shell that carries YOU. So treat your shell inside and out with loving and kindness.
