It is not enough that you are extremely knowledgeable on your chosen niche. If you want to get better at coaching other people, you've got to learn and apply these effective techniques to speed up the learning process.

Here's how you can excel at coaching techniques:

1. Keep it simple. Gone are the days when you need to use high fallutin terms or speak as if you are in the Romeo and Juliet novel to capture the attention of your audience. Today, as people lifestyle are getting more and more demanding, they do not usually have the time to decode the messages that you are trying to get across so it will pay if you can just be direct to the point and if you can use terms that are relatively easy to understand.

2. Loosen up. Everybody hates their college professors because they appear too stiff or too strict. If you want your coachees to have a great time, you will need to loosen up and enjoy your presentation. It's not a bad idea if you make these people laugh by inserting appropriate jokes and put them at ease by using conversational tone all throughout. In fact, doing these can even help you build rapport with them.

3. Dress for the occasion. If you are coaching about business writing, you surely don't want to get into your surfing suit when doing your presentations, right? You see, no matter what people may say, your trainees will still judge you based on your appearance. If you want them to respect you and take you seriously, you've got to dress for the occasion.

4. Maintain eye contact. As they say, looking at somebody else's eyes when you are having a conversation communicates sincerity and honesty. Although this may sound a bit comfortable for other people, you will need to do this to easily earn the trust of your audience.

5. Active listening. Being a coach doesn't necessarily mean doing all the talking all the time. In fact, if you want to truly understand where your clients are coming from, you will need to give them some time to speak up so they can share their thoughts and ideas with you. Listen intently and give them undivided attention. Doing this will not only help you better understand your clients but it will also help you make these people feel truly valued.
