Top Ten Reasons For Giving Flowers

For certain holidays or special occasions flowers are not only the traditional, but most inspired gift. You can create a custom bouquet that sends your love, thanks, congratulations, or a thousand other sentiments. Since all these occasions can be hard to remember though, below is a handy list of the top ten reasons to give flowers. Keep this handy, and you won't ever have to worry about forgetting an important occasion for sending flowers ever again!

#1 Valentine's Day

The number one holiday as far as flower sales are concerned, Valentine's Day swamps us in rivers of roses and chocolate. It's tradition to give your special someone flowers on Valentine's Day, and who wants to disappoint. Don't feel confined to roses though, mix your bouquet up with lilies or stephanotis, or buy a bouquet of your love's favorite flowers.

#2 Anniversaries

A wedding is one of the most magical days in a person's life, and flowers can help bring the memories of that day back to life. You could stick with classical red roses to symbolize your perfect love, or you could get a large bouquet of the flowers that you had at your wedding. Either way, a bouquet of flowers on your anniversary shows your continued devotion and appreciation.

#3 Death of a Loved One

Sooner or later all of us have to face the unfortunate loss of a loved one. Whether it is our parents, siblings, or spouses that we have lost the grief can sometimes feel like an ocean that will swallow us whole. This is a very lonely time for many people, and sending a bouquet of flowers shows that you care and are there for your friend, whatever may come. White lilies, symbolizing purity, are often a choice for this sad occasion.

#4 "I'm Sorry"

You've screwed up big time, now what? One of the best ways to begin apologizing for your behavior is to send flowers. A great choice to send is purple hyacinth, which means "I'm sorry". Always follow up with a verbal apology of course, but send flowers as a way to get the other party in an open frame of mind where they can accept said apology.

#5 Get Well Soon

Hospitals can be drab, beige establishments with little light or laughter. In fact, sometimes they can be downright depressing. Help your sick friend out by sending a sunny bouquet of flowers, such as gerbera daisies which symbolize cheerfulness and a merry heart. Part of the road to recovery is a positive frame of mind, and bright flowers can really help an ill person's frame of mind.

#6 New Baby

Congratulations, it's a boy! Or maybe, it's a girl! Whichever gender a sweet way to welcome a new baby into the world is to send the new parents flowers. You can stick to the traditional pink or blue color schemes, or send a bright multi-colored bouquet to symbolize the new found joy in the parent's lives.

#7 Promotion

Climbing up the next rung of the ladder at work can be great cause for celebration. Let your friend know that you're thrilled for them by sending a bouquet of stargazer lilies which symbolize ambition, in addition to smelling like ambrosia. Or you could send a vase full of big, bright sunflowers, which signal pride and cheerfulness. Sharing the joy of a promotion makes everyone feel proud as blue jays.

#8 Graduation

Many of the same flowers used for promotion at work will also suit graduation, with the addition of the pink rose which is ideal for graduating girls. Flowers really show that you care deeply and have the graduate in your thoughts.

#9 Birthdays

If you have to go to work on your birthday, as many of us do, nothing beats receiving a gorgeous bouquet of flowers in the middle of the day. Sending flowers to someone you love on their birthday makes them feel special, especially when that person is at work.

#10 Just Because

Sometimes the best prize is a surprise! All of the above events are occasions when a person might love to receive flowers. But an unexpected bouquet of flowers can really pick someone up and lift them to a happier plane of existence, at least for the week. The sweet reminder of your love and regard will provide more pleasure simply because it's a surprise.
