Green Tea Guide - Weight Loss - Simple Switching, Or Beverage Swapping Can Help Melt You Away

Simple switching, or beverage swapping can help melt you away

Switch your daily cups of coffee for healthy green tea and reap the rewards, or shed those extra pounds.

Green Tea is THE perfect weight loss tea .

Negative Calories Count against unwanted Pounds

Green Tea uses more calories, than the amount of calories that it replaces in the body. So, when the universal formula of weight loss (calories in = calories burned = no weight change) is applied, you should lose weight. Right?

Wrong! Ok, ok, not entirely wrong. Drinking Green Tea every day for a year will peel off around 8 to 12 pounds from your waist line. Provided nothing changes in your eating habits or exercise patterns.

According to my universal law of weight loss, to actually lose weight, you either have to

  1. Reduce your calorie intake
  2. increase the amount of calories you burn (more exercise)
So drinking green tea adds anything between 40 and 80 calories a day to the energy used side of the formula.

Combine that with a rigid exercise routine and a controlled diet, you will experience the power of this weight loss tea in top gear.

Oolong tea (sometimes called Wu Long Tea) burns double the amount of calories than that of normal green tea. Most likely due to the partially fermented state of this tea. Oolong tea is also a good choice of tea to drink to help you deal with cholesterol, calories or blood sugar level (useful if you are diabetic).

Although Oolong (Wulong Tea) is a brilliant weight loss tea, Oolong's aged counterpart, Pu-erh Tea has an even higher calorie burning capacity due to the aging process of this smooth, premium tea. I have yet to find a conclusive study that proves Pu-erh as the better weight loss tea, but the comments and experiences of colleagues and some close friends, makes it worthwhile mentioning.

Pu-erh Tea is usually partially fermented. Somewhere in between Black and Green Tea, and aged. Sometimes for many years - to produce a smoother, more flavourful tea.

At the end of the day, if used consistently, over a long period of time, Green Tea is the weight loss choice when it comes to considering whether to boot those cups of coffee.
