I wish I had been a 'blogger' a couple of years ago so that I may have shared this particular incident with you earlier. Although, now is better than never.
If you are a parent, then I'm sure you are familiar with the company, Evenflo. For those who are parents-to-be, or know of someone who is having a child, Evenflo is a very recognized baby products company. In my experience as a parent of three, I have always trusted Graco, another well-known baby products brand, for my children's car seats, and strollers, but for my second child I decided to give Evenflo a try. This was a first and will be a last.
Although it was in 2006, I thought it would still be of interest to those debating on which baby brand to go with when it comes to car seats and strollers. Evenflo, at the time, had a very competitive price on one of their complete travel systems from the series, Journey. By complete, I mean both a car seat and stroller in one, including a removable base for the car seat. Majority of the time travel systems come with what I have just mentioned, but you will get your occasional travel system that does not. We had purchased ours from Wal-Mart for roughly $ 199.99 give or take.
Mind you I had not used the stroller all the time for the first few months, as I did not find the need to use it right away. It was only the car seat that I was using. After that, around six months after purchasing their product, I noticed that the stroller began to wobble as I was pushing it. My motherly instinct was telling me to stop using the stroller but I ignored it thinking, 'what can possibly go wrong?', I should have listened to myself because the unthinkable happened. The front right wheel of the stroller had come off! At first I thought that maybe it just had been unlocked from its pole, but the wheel itself had been mutilated. My son was fine and I obviously stopped using the stroller until I was able to get in contact with Evenflo to solve this predicament. I must admit, I did not make that much of an effort to call right away, just as well, a week later the handle of the car seat, which is in a shape of a 'Z', had come apart while I was carrying My son in the car seat! Luckily, he was not hurt and I was not carrying him at a higher elevation.
I immediately took action and called Evenflo, explaining what had happened. They had offered to replace the entire travel system at no charge to me; The only thing was that the car seat and stroller would not be matching. I received the new travel system within the ten business days that they promised; I continued to use the new set until I had my third child, with no problems. Even though there were no problems the second time around, there should not have been any problems to begin with.
Although the price was nice, it was not worth the money spent, I would not be a returning customer for Evenflo. In this case it's quality, not quantity. Safety is a huge factor and they have failed to provide that. I would not suggest Evenflo car seats and strollers to anyone.
